Sr. Molding Engineer
Location: Chihuahua, Chih.
AB Recruitment is searching a Molding Engineer for a Manufacturing company located in Chihuahua City. The incumbent is responsible for plan, lead and coordinate the process development activities to support new product developments, sustaining engineering efforts, including design, prototypes, testing, validation, cost reductions and design/manufacturing for injection molded components. The role will be a critical liaison between the Research and Development functions and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Elaborate FMEA, process characterization, and documentation. Redesign of existing processes to improve quality, utilize automated production techniques, optimize process capabilities, and product improvements in a more cost-effective manner.
- Lead upfront mold design simulation to ensure robust mold design, first-time validation
- Develop and appove new tooling designs to ensure they are consistent with the product design.
- Understand product requirements and establish design criteria for manufacturing processes.
- Define and optimize molding parameters using scientific molding principles.
- Interact with suppliers to define and evaluate materials and processes needed for effective execution of process development activities.
- Evaluate and implement globally advanced molding technologies such as multi-shot, insert molding, and micro-molding.
- Drive innovation in tooling design to support appropriate cavitation and complex geometries adopting the latest technology in injection molding.
- Advise and mentor other engineering personnel on technical aspects of product/process design, molding techniques and the validation of processes.
- Support product related technical problems in engineering and manufacturing areas.
- Working with project management, ensure all components/documents are properly placed into SAP and Agile.
- Drives quality improvements by risk assessment/mitigation eliminating sources of defects in the design, new product introduction and manufacturing processes.
- Drives continuous improvement in manufacturing process, product manufacturability and flexibility, and operations cycle time and quality.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Masters or PhD in Plastics Molding preferred.
- Bilingual: English – Spanish
- Strong experience in Molding Process and Tooling design and development.
- Extensive experience in medical device environment. Understanding of ISO, GMP and FDA regulations.
- Deep understanding ofscientific molding, mold simulation, melt flow analysis and decoupled molding techniques.
- Experience with CAD, Solidworks.
- Leadership, Communication, Analytical ability, Strong coaching and organizational skills, Ability to organize and supervise.
