Job Summary
The Lead Software Engineer will design build and optimize enterprise scale applications using Core Java and SQL WAS/TOMEE/Linux/DB2 in a hybrid work model. The role focuses on delivering reliable services mentoring peers technically without formal people management and collaborating with cross functional teams during day shifts to enhance product quality and business value.
Responsibilities
Domain Experience-Travel
Design robust backend services using Core Java to support scalable enterprise applications and ensure stable performance for critical business processes
Develop optimized SQL queries and data access components that enhance transaction throughput and improve overall system responsiveness for business users
Implement clean modular code following industry best practices in object oriented design to improve maintainability and reduce defects during future enhancements
Review peer code with a focus on performance reliability and security to maintain high engineering standards and reduce production incidents across environments
Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to refine technical requirements and translate them into clear implementation tasks aligned to business goals
Coordinate integration with external systems through well defined interfaces and ensure data consistency to support end to end business workflows
Perform detailed debugging and root cause analysis of complex production issues to restore services quickly and prevent recurrence through targeted fixes
Create and maintain technical documentation including design specifications and deployment steps to ensure smooth knowledge transfer within the engineering team
Guide junior engineers on Core Java patterns database design concepts and testing practices to elevate overall team capability while maintaining individual accountability
Work closely with quality engineering teams to design unit tests integration tests and regression suites that improve defect detection early in the development lifecycle
Optimize database schemas indexes and query plans to reduce latency and enhance resilience for business critical reports and transactional operations
Coordinate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure smooth builds environment readiness and secure deployments in the hybrid work setup without requiring travel
Engage in regular stakeholder discussions to communicate technical risks delivery status and improvement opportunities that contribute to long term product stability and societal impact through reliable digital services
Qualifications
Demonstrate strong hands on experience in Core Java including collections concurrency and exception handling to build reliable backend applications for complex domains
Exhibit advanced proficiency in SQL including joins indexing and query tuning to manage large datasets and support analytical and transactional workloads efficiently
Apply solid understanding of relational database concepts and schema design to create normalized yet performant data models that support evolving business needs
Utilize experience with version control tools and build automation to manage code changes safely and streamline continuous integration workflows
Display familiarity with design patterns microservice concepts and modular architectures to structure applications that are easier to extend and maintain
Show exposure to agile delivery practices such as iterative development backlog refinement and continuous feedback to support predictable delivery in day shifts
Leverage strong problem solving and communication skills to collaborate in a hybrid working model and ensure alignment across distributed engineering and business teams
