Fixed Assets Sr Accountant
Objective:
This role works closely with Finance, Operations, Plant Teams, CWIP contacts, and Motherson leadership team to ensure accurate asset records, strong financial controls, and timely reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach cross-functional teams (CWIP operations associates, Plant Finance) ensuring Fixed Assets are properly safeguarded and accounted for.
- Ensure fixed asset purchase orders have budget alignment and are properly classified with supporting documentation.
- Evaluate asset additions to determine whether costs should be capitalized or expenses.
- Work closely with Tax Department and Import/Export to ensure proper classification of assets satisfying Mexican government requirements.
- Coordinate asset transfers and maintain accurate asset location and ownership records.
- Maintain documentation for audit support, internal controls, and management review.
- Ensure proper recording of addition, depreciation, transfers and disposals in the Fixed Assets Subledger.
- Implement continuous improvement and best practices in Fixed Assets to achieve operational excellence.
- Reconcile the Fixed Asset Database, Fixed Asset Subledger, and ERP General Ledger.
- Lead the annual physical inventory count of fixed assets at all plant locations.
- Monitor and reconcile tooling project costs against received deposits to ensure accurate financial alignment.
- Comply with and ensure compliance with PKC Group's Environment, Health and Safety Policy and Energy Policy.
- Comply with the environmental, health, safety and energy requirements set forth in Federal, State and Municipal legislation and applicable regulations related to our activities and products to comply with the EMASS (Energy, Environment, Health and Safety) procedures inherent to their work position.
Contribute to the effectiveness of the Energy, Environment, Health and Safety Management System, including the achievement of the EMASS Objectives and Goals.
