We are seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to define and own the quality vision and automation architecture across web platforms, using Playwright and JavaScript as core tools.
This role goes far beyond test implementation: the Lead QE sets organization-wide quality standards, shapes long-term automation strategy, builds and grows QE teams, and ensures quality scales seamlessly with platform and business complexity.
Responsibilities
-
Define and own the long-term end-to-end automation strategy and vision using Playwright and JavaScript across multiple teams and platforms
-
Establish automation architecture, frameworks, patterns, and best practices adopted organization-wide
-
Ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-performing test ecosystems that support rapid growth
-
Champion and institutionalize shift-left testing practices and define quality gates as standards within CI/CD pipelines
-
Oversee the strategy for UI, API, and integration testing across products and domains
-
Architect test strategies for complex, cross-system user journeys and third-party integrations
-
Define standards for test data management and environment orchestration across environments and teams
-
Drive coverage of non-functional requirements (reliability, usability, performance, security awareness) at a platform level
-
Set the bar for automation code quality: lead reviews, eliminate flaky tests, and continuously improve execution reliability across the org
-
Establish observability, reporting, and quality metrics frameworks that inform leadership decisions
-
Partner with engineering leadership on testability and design-for-quality; mentor, coach, and grow Senior, Mid-level, and Junior Quality Engineers, and build hiring and development pipelines
-
Act as the top quality authority across teams, influencing platform, architectural, and product decisions, and fostering a company-wide culture of quality ownership
-
Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Delivery leadership on release readiness, risk management, and roadmap planning
-
Proactively identify systemic quality risks, define mitigation strategies, lead root-cause analysis of critical production incidents, and continuously evolve quality processes, tooling, and organizational practices
