Product Development Engineer
Objective: Lead and support all aspects of product development, from concept through
production launch, ensuring products meet quality, cost, manufacturability, compliance, and
customer requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing
processes, develop innovative products and manage technical
Main Responsibilities
- Product Development & New Product Introduction: Lead new product development
projects from concept, prototyping, validation, and production launch. Collaborate with
Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure successful
implementation of new products. Support pilot runs and monitor product performance
during initial production stages, implementing improvements as needed. Develop and
maintain project timelines, deliverables, and technical documentation.
- Product Costing & BOM Management: Create, maintain, and validate Bills of Materials
(BOMs) in SAP or equivalent ERP systems. Develop product cost estimates including
materials, labor, packaging, and manufacturing costs.
Support cost reduction initiatives through design optimization, material selection, and
process improvements.
- Design & Engineering Support: Create, modify, and maintain product designs using
SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software. Develop engineering drawings, models,
prototypes, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing aids. Support engineering changes and
product revisions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Materials & Supplier Development: Define raw material requirements and technical
specifications. Develop material specification sheets and engineering standards. Work
closely with suppliers to evaluate materials, improve performance, reduce costs, and
ensure quality requirements are met. Evaluate alternative materials and manufacturing
methods.
