The Accounting Specialist is responsible for executing and supporting day-to-day accounting activities related to freight operations, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, analyzed, and reported in compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
This role requires strong accounting knowledge, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. The position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity through accurate accounting, variance analysis, reconciliations, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accounting activities related to freight operations, including accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and comply with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
Analyze direct and indirect freight-related costs, investigate variances, and provide insights on actual versus budgeted performance.
Support budget preparation, forecasting activities, and financial performance monitoring.
Manage and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions related to freight operations.
Review billing and invoicing transactions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely processing.
Prepare financial reports, account analyses, and supporting documentation for audits and management reviews.
Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation and standardization initiatives.
Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Commercial, Tax, and Shared Services teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
Support compliance with SOX, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Assist in resolving complex accounting discrepancies and operational issues through analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in accounting, finance operations, freight accounting, shared services, or related disciplines.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, accrual accounting, and reconciliation processes.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, invoicing, and cost analysis.
Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, or similar ERP systems.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
