Application Support Analyst – EDI Technician, FTP, Customs/ABI
Key Responsibilities
EDI Transaction Support
- Provide day-to-day application support for EDI transactions and file-based integrations.
- Basic understanding of XML, JSON, fixed length message formats, etc
- Troubleshoot EDI failures, missing/rejected files, formatting issues, data discrepancies, and transmission errors.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to resolve EDI processing issues.
- Support EDI testing during client onboarding, Application fixes, enhancements, or application changes.
FTP / FTP2 File Transfer Support
- Support FTP-related activities, including coordination with the FTP group for requesting FTP accounts for vendor’s, password changes, connectivity issues, access updates, and file transfer requirements.
- Troubleshoot file transfer failures, directory issues, permission problems, credential issues, and delayed or missing files.
- Validate successful file movement after FTP password changes, configuration updates, or access modifications.
- Ensure secure and accurate exchange of files between internal systems and external partners.
Client Testing & Meeting Support
- Support testing and validation of the layouts, including file structure, field mapping, formatting, required fields, and business rule compliance.
- Identify and report layout mismatches, missing data, invalid values, or file formatting issues.
- Coordinate with QA, development, business, and client teams for testing and issue resolution.
- Participate in client/internal meetings to review layout requirements, testing results, defects, and required changes.
ABI / Customs Support
- Support ABI/customs-related uploads and downloads and monitor customs data exchange processes.
- Troubleshoot customs file failures, rejected records, missing shipment data, incorrect customs information, and processing errors.
- Coordinate with business and technical teams to resolve customs processing issues.
- Support reruns, retransmissions, and reprocessing customs/ABI files as needed.
Southern Border Customer & Application Support
- Provide general Application support for Southern Border customers.
- Monitor customer-impacting application issues, data flow problems, transaction failures, and processing delays.
- Investigate application errors, system exceptions, failed jobs, and data processing issues by analyzing logs, file outputs, error messages, and reports.
- Coordinate with development, QA, infrastructure, database, FTP, business, and vendor teams for timely resolution.
SMC Change, Incident & Request Support
- Review, track, and support open changes in SMC or similar service/change management tools.
- Verify Application defects, application errors, change requests, and support tickets.
- Update tickets with investigation details, root cause notes, resolution steps, and current status.
- Support change validation, post-implementation verification, Application readiness checks, and SLA-focused follow-up.
Testing, Retriggers & Reprocessing
- Provide test support for enhancements, client changes, Application fixes, and system upgrades.
- Perform or coordinate retriggers, reruns, retransmissions, and reprocessing failed files, jobs, transactions, or application processes.
- Validate successful completion of retriggered or reprocessed transactions and confirm business impact resolution.
- Maintain documentation for testing outcomes, defects, retrigger steps, and resolution details.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in Application Support, EDI Support, or Integration Support.
- Hands-on experience with EDI transactions, file-based data exchanges, FTP/SFTP/FTP2 processes, and Application troubleshooting.
- Experience coordinating with FTP/infrastructure teams for password changes, access issues, connectivity problems, and file transfer requirements.
- Experience with testing, structured file validation, data mapping, and file troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of ABI/customs processes, including uploads, downloads, and customs-related data flows.
- Familiarity with ticketing/change tools such as SMC, ADO, ServiceNow, ELF, Jira, or similar.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder coordination, and documentation skills.
- Fluent in Spanish and English to interact with teams and Vendors
Preferred Skills
- Experience in logistics, shipping, transportation, customs, supply chain, or cross-border operations.
- Experience supporting Southern Border customer applications or customs-related systems.
- Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of flat files, delimited files, XML, JSON, or other EDI formats.
- Experience with batch monitoring, job reruns, file reprocessing, and Application validations.
- A plus if a candidate has Cargowise experience.
ADVANCED CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH AND SPANISH ESSENTIAL (Will be evaluated).
