The Engineering Superintendent is responsible for leading all Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, Controls Engineering, and Continuous Improvement activities at the Jacuzzi Group Tijuana manufacturing facility. This position drives operational excellence through process optimization, automation, equipment reliability, and engineering project execution while supporting the company's strategic objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
The Engineering Superintendent will lead a team of engineers and technical specialists, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Corporate Engineering teams in the United States. The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in PLC-based automation systems, project management, manufacturing process improvement, and team leadership within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Leadership

Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineering and Automation teams.

Develop and execute engineering strategies that improve productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Establish engineering standards, procedures, and best practices across the facility.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and support staff.

Collaborate with plant leadership to achieve operational and strategic business objectives.

Manage engineering resources, budgets, and departmental performance metrics.
Automation & Controls

Oversee the programming, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of PLC-based control systems.

Lead automation projects that improve manufacturing efficiency, equipment reliability, and product quality.

Ensure proper documentation, backup, and version control of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.

Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives related to automation and controls.

Coordinate upgrades and implementation of new automation technologies.

Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, and automation-related issuesManufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement

Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Analyze manufacturing KPIs including OEE, downtime, scrap, productivity, and throughput.

Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, automation, and cost reduction.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and manufacturing transfers.

Drive standardization of equipment, processes, and engineering practices.

Support Industry 4.0, digital transformation, and smart manufacturing initiatives.
Project Management

Manage capital investment (CAPEX) projects from concept through implementation.

Coordinate equipment installation, startup, validation, and commissioning activities.

Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Work with suppliers, contractors, and corporate engineering teams to execute projects successfully.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS teams to support plant objectives.

Collaborate with Corporate Engineering and Operations teams on strategic initiatives.

Support sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental improvement projects.
-
Ensure compliance with Jacuzzi Group engineering standards, safety requirements, and quality systems.
Requirements
Education/Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) required.

Project management certification (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
Experience required:

5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.

Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.

Proven experience in industrial automation and controls.

Demonstrated success managing engineering projects and cross-functional initiatives.
