We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Clerk to support the administrative operations of a U.S.-based medical office. This role is as an Independent Contractor, ideal for someone with experience in healthcare administration who is comfortable handling patient records, scheduling, and general office coordination in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
- Maintain and update patient records in the EMR/EHR system.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Upload, organize, and manage medical documentation.
- Assist with processing forms, referrals, and other administrative paperwork.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally.
- Coordinate with providers and internal staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- 1+ year of experience working in a medical office or healthcare administrative role.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems (such as Athena, eClinicalWorks, Epic, or similar).
- Basic understanding of U.S. medical insurance is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet remote workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scheduling patients in a U.S. medical practice.
- Familiarity with insurance verification, referrals, or authorizations.
- Experience supporting physicians or healthcare teams remotely.
