Controller / Accounting Team Lead

Tele-Help-Ing is seeking an experienced Controller / Accounting Team Lead to join our growing remote team. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys leading others, ensuring financial accuracy, working directly with clients, and helping build scalable accounting operations.
The successful candidate will oversee a team of accounting professionals, manage a portfolio of client accounts, review financial statements and bookkeeping work, and support accounting and financial advisory functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of bookkeepers and accounting professionals
- Manage and oversee a portfolio of client accounts
- Review monthly financial records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Conduct client meetings to review financial performance and answer accounting-related questions
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation
- Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Online files and accounting workflows
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve client outcomes and operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization
- Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and advisory initiatives
QualificationsRequired
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience managing or reviewing the work of accounting staff
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to clients and business owners
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and dedicated workspace
Preferred
- Experience working with U.S.-based companies
- Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, or advisory services
- Familiarity with accounting technology and workflow automation tools
- Experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
