Job Description: Spanish-speaking Medical Scribe & Assistant

Position Type: Part-time to Full-time (Starting at 30 hours/week)
I. Role Overview
We are seeking a highly dedicated and detail-oriented Virtual Medical Scribe and Assistant to support a fast-paced Gastroenterology practice in the United States. This role is critical in ensuring clinical excellence by providing real-time scribing during patient consultations and managing essential administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and the ability to learn complex medical software systems quickly.
II. About the Clinic and Physician
- Specialization: Gastroenterology.
- Practice Style: A high-volume, fast-paced clinic that prioritizes excellence and patient-centered care.
- Physician Profile: Client is a highly demanding specialist who operates on a word-of-mouth referral basis. He spends approximately 50% of his time in the surgery center and the other 50% in the clinic seeing patients.
- Culture: Fast-moving and professional. The practice does not actively market or advertise, relying solely on its reputation for excellence.
III. Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Medical Scribing: Accompanying the doctor virtually during patient visits to record clinical notes and documentation in real-time.
- Patient Coordination: Handling incoming phone calls and scheduling patient appointments during non-scribing hours.
- Clinical Communication: Relaying information between the physician and patients accurately.
- Workflow Integration: Assisting the doctor between back-to-back appointments to maintain a smooth clinic flow.
IV. Mandatory Requirements
- Experience: At least one year of experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant or Scribe.
- Background Clearances: Must be able to provide a valid Passport, Criminal Background Check (e.g., NBI clearance equivalent), and Professional License/Certification.
- Language Proficiency: Must be Bilingual (English and Spanish) to support a diverse patient base and communicate effectively with the US-based team.
- Dedication: A strong willingness to learn, high honesty, and a commitment to accuracy.
V. Nice to Haves
- Software Proficiency: Prior experience with Epic EMR is highly advantageous, though not mandatory if the candidate is a quick learner.
- Specialty Exposure: Previous experience supporting a Gastroenterology clinic or similar specialized surgical practice.
- Clinical/Nursing Background: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related medical field to ensure an understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology, and drug interactions. Preferred, but not required.
VII. Schedule and Training
- Training Period: A two-week intensive training phase (one week focused on Epic, one week on practice-specific workflows).
- Working Hours: Starts at 30 hours per week, with the potential to move to 40 hours per week based on performance.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $112.92 per hour
