We're looking for a Collections Specialist to manage past-due accounts, drive resolution on outstanding balances, and support Tongo's broader collections and enforcement strategy. This role requires a mix of professional communication skills, analytical rigor, and comfort navigating complex or sensitive agent situations, holding customers accountable while preserving the relationship and Tongo's reputation in the real estate community.
What You'll Do
- Manage a portfolio of past-due accounts, conducting outreach via phone, email, and other channels to secure repayment
- Negotiate repayment plans and resolve disputes in line with company policy and applicable regulations
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of collection activity and customer communications in our systems
- Support UCC-1 and UCC-3 filings and related enforcement steps, escalating accounts appropriately when needed
- Coordinate with external partners — collections agencies and legal counsel — on complex or delinquent cases
- Work cross-functionally with Underwriting and Customer Service on shared accounts
- Identify patterns in delinquency and recommend process improvements to reduce future risk
- Maintain a professional, composed tone in every interaction, even with challenging or distressed customers
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience in collections would be great
- Experience with the US real estate market would be helpful
- Strong communication skills
- A self-starter who takes initiative on new tasks rather than waiting to be told what to do next
- Fluent English
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with UCC-1 and UCC-3 filings and enforcement processes
- Familiarity with HubSpot or similar CRM platforms
- Experience working with US financial services clients or customers
