About the Role:
We are looking for a Portfolio Manager to join our International Higher Education Portfolio Management team, reporting to the Portfolio Lead for Science, Health Sciences, Nursing. In this role, you will shape and grow a portfolio of impactful products and services by translating market needs, educator and learner challenges, and customer insights into clear portfolio strategies and compelling go-to-market plans. You will work closely with colleagues across Product, Sales, Marketing, Strategy, Production, and Operations to identify opportunities, strengthen product performance, and deliver solutions that create meaningful value for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Build deep expertise in your portfolio’s discipline, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform portfolio decisions.
Maintain a balanced, current, and commercially successful portfolio aligned with market opportunities and learner outcomes.
Lead market and customer research initiatives to identify educator and learner challenges, validate opportunities, and refine product-market fit.
Partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Strategy teams to develop innovative products, strengthen portfolio performance, and support go-to-market execution.
Build strong relationships with authors, subject matter experts, and internal stakeholders to shape product vision and delivery.
Monitor industry trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity, using data-driven insights to guide decisions and uncover new growth opportunities.
Support sales teams across your geography with relevant market insights, portfolio positioning, and opportunities for new business development.
Champion an engaging customer experience across your portfolio, including the successful introduction of new digital products and early adopter communities.
Required skills and experience:
Strong alignment with Pearson’s culture and values.
Solid understanding of product or portfolio management principles and processes.
Experience in education and learning, ideally within higher education.
Strong market research and analytical skills, including experience with surveys, focus groups, customer feedback, and data interpretation.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Sound judgment and the ability to make informed decisions independently.
Experience in customer engagement, relationship management, and community building.
Creative problem-solving skills and a strong sense of empathy for learners and educators.
Familiarity with digital content development, digital courseware, or instructional design is a plus.
