We are seeking an experienced Perl Developer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This is a role focused on developing, maintaining, and enhancing business-critical applications built in Perl. The ideal candidate is a true software developer—not just a coder—who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with business stakeholders, and taking ownership of solutions from design through production support.
This role requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively with other team members, and proactively identify and resolve technical challenges. Candidates should be comfortable translating business requirements into high-quality, maintainable code while following software development best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Perl.
- Collaborate with teams within the organization to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Analyze requirements and determine what code, processes, or system enhancements need to be developed.
- Develop and maintain integrations with internal and external systems through REST APIs.
- Write clean, scalable, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Perform thorough testing of your own work before deployment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while taking ownership of assigned applications.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software development best practices.
- Monitor applications after deployment to ensure continued performance and reliability.
- Attend regular meetings with Business Analysts and project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate status updates and technical documentation.
- Demonstrate initiative by asking questions, investigating issues, and proposing solutions proactively.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on Perl development experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with SQL Server and writing complex SQL queries.
- Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and SDLC best practices.
- Experience working directly with Business Analysts and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable taking ownership of projects and production support activities.
