Founded in 1977, Sanchelima & Associates, P.A. is one of South Florida's leading intellectual property law firms, with over 45 years of experience protecting patents, trademarks, and copyrights for clients ranging from individual inventors to multinational corporations. We are based in Miami, Florida, and our main office operates on a U.S. Eastern Time (EST) schedule.
Our Patent Department helps inventors and companies protect their innovations, conducting prior art searches, preparing patent applications, managing prosecution before the USPTO, and guiding clients from initial filing through to final grant.
We are looking for a Patent Engineer to join our Patent Department and work closely with our attorneys to bring inventions from disclosure to issued patent.
What you'll do
- Prepare and draft patent applications based on client inventions
- Review and analyze new invention disclosures submitted by clients
- Prepare amendments and responses to USPTO office actions
- Conduct prior art and patentability searches
- Communicate directly with inventors and attorneys to clarify technical details
- Track prosecution deadlines to ensure filings and responses are submitted on time
- Coordinate with foreign associates on international (PCT) filings, as needed
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer, or a related field)
- Strong technical writing and analytical skills
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines at once
- USPTO Patent Agent registration is a plus, but not required
- Prior experience in a patent or IP environment is preferred, but not required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Compensation
This position offers a monthly salary of MXN $25,000–$30,000/month, depending on experience.
