Intugo, in partnership with a foreign company specializing in electrical engineering and construction services, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Hermosillo.
The company provides electrical engineering and construction services for commercial clients, federal agencies, and military installations across the United States. This position will play a key role in accounts receivable, collections, financial reporting, cash-flow visibility, and month-end closing activities.
The role is designed as a growth opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who can learn the company’s construction-accounting processes and potentially develop into an Accounting Lead or Controller position within the next one to two years.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable and Billing
- Prepare and submit customer invoices according to project milestones and billing schedules.
- Track outstanding accounts receivable and follow up through payment reminders and collection calls.
- Prepare lien releases and verify that all supporting documentation is complete for payment processing.
- Enter, review, and monitor change orders to ensure billing accuracy.
- Maintain organized records of billing, collection, and customer-payment activities.
- Assist with accounts payable check runs and vendor coordination.
Month-End Close and General Accounting
- Reconcile bank and cash accounts against bank statements.
- Record adjusting journal entries for accruals, deferrals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and amortization.
- Review and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Record revenue accurately and support project-based accounting activities.
- Update and reconcile inventory records when applicable.
- Support fixed-asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with tax-related reconciliations and accounting records.
- Support payroll audits from the accounting side by recording and reconciling information; this role does not manage payroll operations.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including:
- Profit and Loss Statement
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
- Monitor and forecast weekly and monthly cash flow.
- Support budget data entry, tracking, and reconciliation.
- Perform variance analysis comparing budget against actual results and prior periods.
- Submit financial reports to company leadership and external accounting partners for review.
- Maintain complete backup documentation and a clear audit trail for all financial activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting and reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial role.
- Strong accounting fundamentals and experience supporting audit activities.
- Strong understanding of month-end closing procedures.
- Advanced or strong English proficiency.
- Experience preparing financial statements and performing account reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, collections, general ledger accounting, budgeting, and cash-flow management.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational abilities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate with company leadership, project managers, vendors, and external accounting partners.
- Availability to work locally in Hermosillo.
Technical Skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Ability to work with formulas, lookups, filters, pivot tables, and financial-tracking spreadsheets.
- Experience updating and maintaining projections, budgets, and cash-flow trackers.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Familiarity with Foundation Software is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a construction, contracting, or project-based company.
- Experience with construction billing, lien releases, change orders, and retention billing.
- Knowledge of job costing and project tracking.
- Exposure to project-based or percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Understanding of prevailing wage and certified payroll.
- Experience working with fixed assets, taxes, audits, and financial-reporting controls.
- Interest and ability to grow into an Accounting Lead or Controller role.
