Lead and coordinate manufacturing engineering activities across production areas to support existing manufacturing processes, new product introduction, product transfers, process development, equipment implementation, automation initiatives, lean manufacturing deployment, MESH compliance, quality improvements, and cost reduction projects. Responsible for optimizing manufacturing systems, improving operational performance, and ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable production processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities supporting production, new product launches, capacity expansions, and product transfers.
- Determine manufacturing methods and machine or line loading to produce parts, sub-assemblies,stamping and assemblies for new products or customer orders requiring extensive planning consistent with overall division objectives. Plan all tooling such as jigs, fixtures, special tools, and similar items.
- Develop, implement, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Determine manufacturing methods, line balancing, labor standards, machine utilization, and process flows for production operations.
- Define equipment, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and automation requirements needed to support production and business growth.
- Develop technical specifications, justify capital expenditures, and manage equipment acquisition, installation, qualification, and commissioning projects.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for capacity, capability, safety, reliability, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
- Support manufacturing operations through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementation of preventive measures using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Takt Time analysis, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other operational excellence tools.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process maps, work instructions, control plans, equipment specifications, and operational standards.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and training to supervisors, technicians, operators, and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, customer issue resolution, process validation, and compliance with Eaton Quality System requirements.
- Support MESH and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
- Manage annual engineering budgets, capital investment projects, and manufacturing cost reduction initiatives.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, replacement strategies, and technology implementation opportunities to improve operational performance.
