Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the engineering team, ensuring effective execution of product development projects from concept to launch. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and timely solutions while driving continuous improvement in products and processes. The position also requires strong cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment between engineering and other departments, as well as maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Additionally, the Engineering Manager contributes to strategic planning and fosters innovation aligned with business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, or a related environment.
- 2+ years of people leadership or team management experience.
- Strong experience leading cross-functional engineering projects.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and make sound decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in furniture, manufacturing, consumer products, industrial design, or related industries.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management, engineering change control, and new product introduction processes.
- Experience with CAD systems, testing/validation processes, and design for manufacturability.
- Familiarity with Lean, Green Belt, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business is a plus.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technical contributors.
- Set clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations for the team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and succession planning for engineering talent.
Engineering Execution
- Oversee product development and engineering projects from concept through launch and post-launch support.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with business priorities.
- Drive design reviews, risk assessments, validation activities, and technical decision-making.
- Partner with Product Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.
- Monitor project progress and adjust resources and priorities as needed.
Product and Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, cost, quality, and reliability.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for technical and production-related issues.
- Lead initiatives related to design optimization, value engineering, and standardization.
- Promote use of best practices, engineering standards, and robust documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to translate customer, operational, and business needs into engineering solutions.
- Serve as a key communication bridge between engineering and other functions.
- Present project status, technical recommendations, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.
- Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap discussions.
Compliance and Quality
- Ensure designs, processes, and engineering activities comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
- Support documentation control, testing protocols, and engineering change processes.
- Reinforce disciplined execution and adherence to company procedures and standards.
This position is to work in El Florido Industrial Park.
Will be moving between sites in the Florido area / 2 different industrial parks.
