ROLE TITLE: Master Data Steward
FUNCTION: Master Data Management
REGION: Information Systems
REPORTING: Managing Director Mexico
LOCATION: Mexico City
ROLE PURPOSE
The Master Data Steward is a pivotal figure within the Master Data organization, proactively supporting all data needs across the company. This role’s primary activity will be the administration, maintenance, assessment, and improvement of data integrity of the ERP system in conformance with our critical data asset policies.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The data steward is the key user closest to the data and the chief problem solver:
- Monitor and track ongoing data quality, security, privacy, retention levels, and other metrics that assess the adherence of data and people to data governance policies within the Oracle application suite.
- Interpret and enforce activities to ensure target goals for data quality and adherence with data governance policies.
- Identify optimal approaches for resolving data quality or consistency issues to achieve resolution targets.
- Extract, transform and enrich system data into the Glory Global data model, confirming all data aspects meet the data quality levels required.
- Provide input into and implement change in support of the improvement and adoption of data governance policies and stewardship.
Key Interfaces
The data steward is a highly collaborative role that interacts with a range of individuals in the organization. Specifically, it is crucial that the data steward works closely with the following roles/groups:
- Peer data stewards — Collaborate on stewardship activities at organization touchpoints, where stewards have overlapping or adjacent scope; propose to the data and analytics governance board process improvements for how the work of data stewardship is undertaken. (Eg Service data groups)
- Data and analytics enterprise groups — Supports business teams with reporting/metrics regarding the degree to which data and analytics assets conform to policy. Supports business teams with data update/management to comply with same. (Eg Finance, Customer Support, Operations groups)
- Data and analytics sponsor/champion — Takes direction for policy execution and approaches to stewardship from the data governance and business applications process stream owners.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level:
- ERP system knowledge including Industry best practices in areas including Warehousing, Finance, Sales and Supply Chain.
- Certifications in ERP systems administration, general systems administration or appropriate work experience.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Information Systems or Business Administration and /or appropriate work experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Deep and comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of data quality on the ability of the business to meet its own objectives, with analytical skills and keen attention to detail
- Intimate knowledge of the organization’s key business processes and how those processes are influenced by data and analytics.
- Knowledge of the IT landscape to communicate well with more technical roles.
- Awareness of the security, privacy and quality requirements for critical data entities.
- Ability to influence peers and subordinates to modify behaviors and provide support for the adoption of data governance policies.
- Facilitation and conflict resolution skills to assist in resolving the different points of view and requirements that invariably collide during cross-team and cross-organization efforts.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels within the business.
- Project management skills to guide point-in-time and ongoing targeted data quality, retention, security and privacy improvement projects.
- Time management skills in high-pressure, fast-moving business environment.
- Ability to understand and assist in formulating goals and objectives for the business.
