The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting functions for assigned law firm clients while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and high-quality financial reporting. This role bridges transactional bookkeeping and higher-level accounting analysis by owning reconciliations, reviewing financial data, identifying issues, and supporting advisory-focused reporting.
The Staff Accountant works independently on multiple client accounts, collaborates closely with accountants and leadership, and contributes to the delivery of accurate financial insights that support strategic decision-making for clients.
This position is remote in Mexico.

$2800 monthly
Responsibilities:
Roles & Responsibilities

Manage multiple client accounts independently with minimal supervision.

Prepare and maintain accurate monthly financial statements and supporting workpapers.

Review & code transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Perform bank, credit card, loan, trust, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Analyze client financial data and identify discrepancies, unusual trends, or accounting issues.

Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

Ensure accounting records are complete, organized, and maintained according to firm standards.

Support CFO reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects.

Maintain accurate workpapers and documentation for internal review and tax preparation.

Communicate professionally and proactively with clients and team members.

Ensure client emails and inquiries are responded to within 24 working hours.

Escalate client concerns, accounting issues, or workflow blockers appropriately.

Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational efficiency projects.

Stay current on accounting best practices, QuickBooks Online functionality, and internal firm procedures.
Qualifications:-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Experience working with multiple clients simultaneously preferred.

Strong QuickBooks Online experience required.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) Certification preferred.

Experience with law firm accounting preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.

Experience with workflow/project management software preferred.

Strong understanding of reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.

Public accounting or CAS (Client Accounting Services) experience preferred.
