Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant plays a key supporting role within the Accountability Department, assisting with the day-to-day accountability operations of the insurance company. This position is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting and reconciliation efforts, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Record and reconcile financial transactions related to insurance premiums, claims, commissions, and operational expenses.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, monthly closings, and financial reports.
- Help monitor bank accounts, process payments, and perform bank reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing of financial records.
- Assist in audits by preparing supporting documentation and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and client information.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Accounting.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in an accounting support role; insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles .
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or insurance-specific systems).
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual.
