This role will be based in Mexico City, MX and serve as the lead Senior Accountant for the Mexico sales business, reporting directly to the local Controller. This person will be an integral team member in the newly-formed accounting and treasury organization that supports the Wrangler® brand business.
This position will lead the monthly financial close process for the Mexico City business, which consists of the Wrangler® brand, focusing on accurate and timely monthly financial close journal entries and reporting to the corporate office , as well as certain Treasury responsibilities in payables and cash management. This person should consistently demonstrate a high level of ethics to all members of the accounting team and the organization, with responsibility to execute and adhere to internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) guidelines.
Key responsibilities will include preparation of journal entries associated with the financial close, including accounts such as inventory and related reserves, bad debt reserves, AP and accruals, prepaids, and refund liabilities for customer returns and discounts. This position is also responsible for the preparation and/or review of monthly account reconciliations, and execution of Kontoor’s internal controls framework in compliance with SOX requirements. This position will work with KBI’s Corporate Treasury Department, executing certain local cash management, accounts payable and customer accounting functions.
Additionally, this role will be a business partner with local and US-based finance and commercial leadership to help resolve ongoing accounting, business and system issues; prepare and present schedules in semi-annual Balance Sheet Reviews with the Kontoor Corporate Accounting and Reporting team; provide coaching and training to less experienced team members; provide timely communication to local leadership on accounting and business issues that arise.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation and review of monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Responsible for timely and accurate monthly financial reporting to the corporate office.
Display peak levels of ethics and morality, representing the office with integrity and a proactive “lead by example” approach
Coach and develop less-experienced staff
REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a college degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or similar designation preferred but not required)
Must have moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., ability to structure and analyze larger data sets and write formulas)
Should possess 5+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance
Detail oriented and able to comply with tight deadlines
Experience in SAP S/4 HANA is preferred but not required
