The Work You'll Do
As a Senior Storage and Backup Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-level storage and backup solutions, ensuring data availability, integrity, and recoverability across the organization. You will serve as a technical mentor within the team, contribute to system standards and automation efforts, and play an active role in improving platform reliability, performance, and compliance. Your expertise will influence design decisions, drive operational excellence, and support the integration of storage solutions with broader IT infrastructure. This role is critical to maintaining robust data protection strategies and supporting business continuity across Sovos.
More specifically, you will:
- Design and implement scalable storage architectures, including SAN, NAS, and Object Storage
- Manage and optimize backup and recovery systems to ensure data integrity and availability
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Monitor storage capacity, performance, and utilization, planning for future growth
- Troubleshoot complex storage and backup issues to maintain operational excellence
- Implement data protection strategies and ensure compliance with data retention policies
- Evaluate and recommend new storage and backup technologies for continuous improvement
- Lead storage and backup-related projects and mentor junior team members
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate storage solutions with broader infrastructure
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Strong English communications skills
- Availability to attend the office once a week (Condesa, CDMX)
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise storage and backup administration
- In-depth knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and Object Storage
- Expertise in backup and recovery solutions including Veeam, Commvault, or Rubrik
- Experience with cloud storage platforms like AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Strong understanding of data protection and disaster recovery concepts
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
