About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Service Assurance Engineer – Dark Fiber Remediation to support post-delivery activation and troubleshooting activities for dark fiber customers. This role is critical in resolving complex fiber circuit issues, coordinating troubleshooting efforts, and ensuring high-priority customers receive exceptional technical support.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with dark fiber operations, transport networks, fiber troubleshooting, and customer-facing service assurance activities in telecom/carrier environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve dark fiber activation and service issues end-to-end
- Read and interpret fiber maps, cross-connect diagrams, splice records, and patching layouts
- Coordinate troubleshooting efforts between customers, field technicians, engineering teams, and third parties
- Analyze circuit designs, routing, and service requirements
- Direct Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) technicians during remediation activities
- Review and interpret OTDR testing results and fiber test documentation
- Lead high-priority customer escalation calls and drive issue resolution
- Document troubleshooting steps, remediation actions, and resolution details within ticketing systems
- Support service delivery readiness and help reduce customer escalations
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in telecommunications, transport networks, dark fiber, or service assurance
- Strong experience troubleshooting Layer 1 / optical / dark fiber issues
- Hands-on experience with fiber remediation, patching, cross-connects, and field coordination
- Experience working with carrier-grade fiber networks and customer escalations
- Ability to read and understand:
- Fiber maps
- Cross-connect diagrams
- Fiber routes
- Patch panel layouts
- Experience with OTDR testing workflows and fiber test analysis
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and root cause analysis skills
