Are you a high-level competitive player, analyst, or assistant coach ready to help build a championship collegiate esports program?
We are seeking a deeply knowledgeable, high-energy Esports Specialist to assist our program with player scouting, team development, and competitive match prep. In this role, you won't be sitting behind a corporate desk doing HR paperwork—you will be in the server, on Discord, and in the lobby working directly with our players, coaches, and management.
We need a true Esports Guru who lives and breathes competitive gaming: someone who understands meta shifts, VOD analysis, pick/ban dynamics, and how to scout raw mechanical talent across North America and Latin America to help construct our competitive rosters.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Roster Scouting & Outreach: Work directly alongside our Senior Athletics Admissions Specialist to scout and recruit top gaming talent across North America and Latin America using Discord, server leaderboards, rank telemetry, and regional tournament circuits.
- Assistant Coaching & Player Support: Assist with running structured team practices, conducting VOD reviews, and working with individual players to refine mechanics, communication, and team chemistry.
- Gameplay Strategy & Analysis: Coach teams on critical in-game fundamentals—from managing ultimate economy and identifying win conditions to adapting against off-meta "cheese strategies" and knowing when to call a clean "hard reset."
- Meta & Strategic Prep: Analyze patch notes, research opposing teams, track meta shifts, and assist with developing draft strategies and in-game shotcalling protocols.
- Match-Day Operations: Assist with weekly match setups, online tournament logistics, stream production (Twitch/YouTube), and Discord server moderation.
- Culture & Academic Tracking: Help foster a healthy, disciplined team culture across culturally diverse rosters while monitoring student-athlete academic progress to ensure eligibility.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
- True Esports & Gameplay Expertise: 1–2 years of hands-on experience as an assistant coach, analyst, high-rank competitive player, or team manager in collegiate, high school, or amateur esports.
- Deep Game & Meta Knowledge: Strong strategic understanding of major collegiate titles (League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, etc.), including current patch metas, drafting dynamics, and player roles.
- Digital Scouting Literacy: Proven ability to evaluate competitive gaming talent beyond simple rank—analyzing team synergy, communications, stats, and attitude via Discord, leaderboards, and tournament VODs.
- LatAm & NA Esports Familiarity: Knowledge of the North American and Latin American competitive gaming scenes, local tournament networks, and player communities.
- Bilingual Communication: High English fluency (written and spoken) to coordinate within university systems, paired with Spanish or Portuguese skills to connect directly with prospects and families across LatAm.
- Tech & Streaming Tools: Hands-on experience with Discord server management, OBS Studio/streaming tools, and tournament platforms (e.g., Battlefy, Start.gg).
Who This Role Is NOT For:
❌ Corporate HR managers or corporate talent acquisition recruiters.
❌ Administrative recruiters who don't actively play or analyze competitive esports titles.
Who THIS IS For:
✅ Esports Analysts, Assistant Coaches, High-Rank Competitive Players, and Tournament Coordinators who know how to break down a VOD, scout a leaderboard, run a scrim, and help build a team.
How to Apply (Mandatory Knockout Section)
To ensure we are hiring a true esports mind rather than a general corporate recruiter, applications without answers to the following three quick questions will not be considered:
- The VOD Take: What is the #1 mistake you consistently see amateur or collegiate players make during a VOD review, and how do you coach them through it?
- The Hard Reset: Briefly explain the difference between a "hard reset" and a "recontest" during a round or objective play.
- The Cheese Counter: How do you prepare a roster mentally and strategically when an opposing team pulls out a "cheese strategy" or pocket pick in a high-stakes match?
