Family Photo Book & Film Designer
Remote | Freelance / Project-Based | Ongoing, Intermittent Projects
We are looking for a talented and creative Photo Book & Family Film Designer to help us thoughtfully document our family's memories through beautifully designed photo books and family films.
This is an ongoing freelance relationship with projects assigned intermittently throughout the year. We are looking for someone we can work with long-term who will get to know our family, understand our aesthetic, and take ownership of transforming our photos and videos into polished keepsakes.
What You'll Do
For each project, you will work directly with my husband and me from concept through completion. Responsibilities will include:
- Meet with us virtually to discuss the vision, priorities, and creative direction for each photo book or film.
- Develop an outline, concept, and organizational plan before beginning the project.
- Review and curate photos and videos from our shared Google Photos library.
- Identify the strongest images and moments while making sure important people, events, and memories are represented.
- Edit and enhance photos as needed, including cropping, color correction, lighting adjustments, and other retouching.
- Design sophisticated, visually cohesive photo books with strong layouts, typography, pacing, and attention to detail.
- Create photo books through online printing platforms and prepare finalized projects for printing and shipping.
- Create family films by thoughtfully combining video clips, photos, music, titles, and transitions into polished, engaging stories.
- Present drafts for review and incorporate feedback before finalizing each project.
- Maintain an organized workflow so photos, videos, drafts, and completed projects are easy to access.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a designer with excellent English.
This design job is project based with recurrent ongoing work opportunities.
The most important qualification is excellent creative taste and a strong design aesthetic, ability to work quickly, and ability to take feedback and adjust designs. We want our books and films to feel elevated, timeless, cohesive, and professionally designed—not like standard photo-book templates or basic slideshows.
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong graphic/editorial design skills and an excellent eye for composition, color, typography, and layout.
- Experience designing photo books, albums, editorial layouts, or similar projects.
- Photo-editing and retouching experience.
- Video-editing experience and the ability to create polished, emotionally engaging films from a combination of personal videos and photographs.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort sorting through large photo/video libraries.
- The ability to take a broad creative vision and independently turn it into a thoughtful finished product.
- Good communication skills and comfort collaborating remotely.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Fluency in English sufficient to communicate with us and understand written captions, dates, events, and project direction.

- Annual family photo books
- Baby and childhood milestone books
- Birthday and special-event books
- Vacation and travel books
- Family year-in-review films
- Birthday or milestone films
- Films combining years of family photos and video clips
Compensation & Schedule
This is a remote, freelance position paid on a per-project basis rather than an hourly or salaried role.
Projects will be intermittent throughout the year. Scope, timeline, and compensation will be agreed upon before each project begins.
We are hoping to find someone interested in developing an ongoing, long-term relationship with our family and taking on future projects as they arise.
