The Overhead & Lighting Systems Development Lead (DL) ensures technical and design practices are kept within the Overhead and Lighting systems and components designs and projects. The DL supports the Interior Trim and Lighting Sub-Discipline Manager in leading the team and providing technical guidance to the DREs. The responsibilities of the DL include, but are not limited to:
1. Develop and maintain corporate expertise on product, process and tooling design.
2. Develop, maintain and deploy design practice documentation.
3. Manage lessons learned documents / process.
4. Develop and maintain core DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, Performance Standards, Process Standards.
5. Define vehicle level system tests.
6. Is the technical specifications lead to support sourcing, including the creation or management of tech sheets and tech reviews.
7. Balance component use within vehicle requirements.
8. Ensure design support for system and vehicle Functional Objectives.
9. Harmonize core documents, confirming consistent design practices.
10. Develop robust and quality/cost/weight efficient designs that meet program objectives.
Requirements:
- Experience in similar position.
- Experience leading groups of product engineers directly or indirectly.
- At least 8 years of experience in automotive industry.
- BS in engineering (Mechanical, Mechanical-Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Industrial).
- Self-directed, sense of ownership, urgency, and attention to detail.
- Proficient in communicating in technical English language, comfortable with reporting out to top management.
- Knowledgeable in global automotive product development process.
- Master's degree is a plus.
