We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in AWS to join our team.
As an AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Engineer, you will increase visibility into cloud spending by developing a data-driven approach to alerting, reporting, and optimizing cloud costs. The right candidate will have hands-on experience in DevOps or SRE, possess deep experience working on cost analysis and optimization in large AWS environments, have a passion for data analysis, and be a team player who can collaborate with others across the organization.
Responsibilities

Collaborate with software development and engineering teams to identify optimization opportunities that maximize ROI on cloud resources and improve overall cost efficiency

Gain a thorough understanding of the client's product, its architecture, and deployment within the cloud, along with the associated costs for each component of the environment

Advise architects and engineers on architecture and resource optimization, waste reduction, capacity management, and KPI development
-
Monitor cloud spending to identify cost increases and usage anomalies, investigating the root causes behind them
-
Track utilization of cloud reservations and savings plans, working with teams to reallocate freed-up capacity
-
Analyze data patterns and anomalies to generate insights that support strategic and operational decision-making

Identify savings opportunities related to cloud commitment purchases (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Instances, Committed/Sustained Use) and monitor their utilization

Pinpoint areas of inefficiency and develop actionable plans for optimization

Build, update, and maintain cost and utilization reports, dashboards, and automated alerting and forecasting tools

Implement dashboards and automated reporting systems to track cost compliance

Contribute to the creation, refinement, automation, and governance of cost optimization policies and best practices

Report on KPIs and present recommended savings opportunities to relevant stakeholders

Work closely with engineering teams to verify that implemented cost improvements are effective
Requirements

A minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure, including cost reporting and cost optimization at scale

Experience with AWS EKS and containerization technologies

Proficiency with cost management and cloud tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Report, AWS Budgets, CloudHealth, AWS Managed Services, Amazon EC2, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service

Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, and Terraform for version control, automation, and infrastructure management

Proven ability to create cost optimization dashboards, models, and reports tailored for engineering teams utilizing cloud services

Strong attention to detail with genuine enthusiasm for transforming data into actionable insights

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across multiple concurrent projects

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong interest in exploring and adopting new and emerging technologies

Strong written and spoken proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher
Nice to have

Experience with AWS Lambda for building serverless applications and automating cost-related workflows

Familiarity with Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring cloud resources and tracking performance metrics

Knowledge of Amazon S3 for managing and analyzing storage-related costs and usage patterns

Experience with Datadog for monitoring, alerting, and visualizing cloud infrastructure data

Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, and building custom tools to support cost analysis and reporting
