The Compliance Engineer will serve as the primary subject matter expert for regulatory compliance and product safety across our HVAC products. This position focuses on transitioning, designing, and certifying products under the UL 60335-2-40 safety standard (including the latest editions addressing A2L/flammable refrigerants).
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between design engineering and third-party National Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) such as UL, CSA, or Intertek, ensuring that new products (NPD) and sustaining product modifications meet all necessary North American safety and performance requirements.
-
Standard Interpretation & Design Consultation: Interpret complex requirements within UL and multiple standards, and translate them into actionable engineering design guidelines, standards and construction specifications.
- Certification Project Management: Lead the end to end certification process with NRTLs (UL, CSA, Intertek, etc.). Define certification strategies, establish compliance schedules, prepare technical submission files, and manage ongoing certification maintenance/construction review logs.
- Testing Execution & Verification: Author formal test plans and protocols in alignment with standard requirements (e.g., electrical safety, mechanical strength, environmental simulation, containment, and flammable refrigerant mitigation systems). Coordinate, witness, or execute hands-on testing in internal or external laboratories.
