The EHS Specialist will be primarily responsible for environmental compliance and legal management, ensuring that the site operates in full alignment with environmental regulations, permits, and corporate standards. This role is critical to support the startup and operation of new buildings, focusing on responsible resource use, regulatory approvals, and system management.
Our Team
You will join the DSS EHS function in Guadalajara, reporting to the EHS Coordinator and working closely with Operations, HR, Management, and external regulators. The role supervises an EHS Technician and supports cross-functional programs across production, quality, and supply-chain teams.
What You Will Do
- Environmental Legal & Regulatory Compliance:

Manage environmental permits, licenses, renewals.
- Serve as the primary contact during regulatory inspections and authority visits.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Lead permitting and compliance activities for new buildings, including:
- Land use permits
- Environmental/ecology licenses
- Civil Protection requirements
- Operating licenses
- Environmental Management Systems

Administer and maintain:
- ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System
- ISO 45001 - Occupational Health & Safety Management System
- Prepare, support, and close actions from:
- Internal audits
- External and certification audits
- Ensure documentation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
- New Buildings & Startup Support

Provide environmental compliance support during building startup and ramp-up.
- Secure permits for water, electricity, waste, and environmental operation.
- Implement environmental controls and waste-reduction strategies from day one.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in environmental compliance and legal management.

Background in manufacturing, preferably:
-
Electronics manufacturing
-
Automotive (high regulatory standards)
- Experience supporting new building startups and regulatory approvals.
- ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 Auditor certification (internal or lead auditor).
- Desired: RBA knowledge or certification.
- Fluent English
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
- Certifications such as OSHA, NEBOSH, CSP or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience implementing and auditing ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 management systems.
- Proven experience managing hazardous waste, waste treatment plant operations, or environmental permitting.
- Practical experience with contractor management, LOTO programs, confined-space entry, and working-at-heights controls.
- Prior experience in Lean/5S environments and delivering large-scale safety/training programs across shifts.
