Position Description :
The Platform Engineering, SRE & Observability team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to design, operate, modernize, and continuously improve highly available, scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud-native platforms in Google Cloud.
This role plays a critical part in cloud migration initiatives, containerization efforts, observability maturity, and cost optimization strategies. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience migrating legacy workloads to GCP, modernizing applications into containerized architectures, and building resilient, observable, and cost-efficient platforms.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, implement, and operate highly available and scalable infrastructure in GCP.
· Lead and support migration initiatives including:
· On-prem to GCP migrations
· VM-based workloads to containerized platforms (GKE/Cloud Run)
· Monolith to microservices/container modernization
· Assess legacy systems and define migration strategies with minimal downtime.
· Manage and optimize containerized workloads using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine).
· Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to drive reliability improvements.
· Build and mature end-to-end observability, including metrics, logs, traces, synthetic monitoring, and alerting.
· Lead incident response and conduct blameless postmortems with preventative improvements.
· Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) to support scalable deployments.
· Drive CI/CD automation to support migration and modernization initiatives.
· Establish cloud cost governance and optimization strategies, post-migration.
· Implement labeling standards and cost allocation models across environments.
· Reduce operational toil through automation and platform standardization.
· Participate in on-call rotation and reliability improvement initiatives.
