Colossal Academy is looking for an exceptional Nursery School Teacher who understands that the first years of life are some of the most important years for learning and development.
We are a small, innovative international school in Mérida inspired by Reggio Emilia and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Our philosophy combines academic rigor with a deeply human approach to education.
The Role
Our Nursery program is designed for our youngest learners. At this age, learning happens through relationships, movement, language, sensory exploration, play and interaction with the real world.
Inspired by Reggio Emilia, we see even our youngest children as capable, curious people who are actively trying to understand their environment.
The Nursery Teacher creates a warm, safe and stimulating environment where children can develop confidence, independence, communication and a love of exploration.
Children might:
- Explore different textures, sounds, colors and materials
- Develop language through songs, stories and conversation
- Build coordination through movement and sensory experiences
- Explore early mathematical ideas through sorting, stacking and patterns
- Paint, draw, build and experiment with materials
- Spend time outdoors exploring nature
- Develop independence through practical daily routines
- Learn to communicate their needs and interact with other children
- Participate in music, movement and creative experiences
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with very young children
- Understands early childhood development
- Is warm, affectionate, patient and highly attentive
- Understands the importance of secure relationships in early learning
- Is interested in or experienced with Reggio Emilia
- Talks, sings, reads and interacts actively with children throughout the day
- Can create meaningful learning opportunities through play and exploration
- Supports children's growing independence
- Carefully observes children's development and communicates progress
- Maintains a clean, organized and safe learning environment
- Works collaboratively with teachers and families
- Treats young children with genuine respect
