The SDO Commodity Lead is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material flow for a designated commodity portfolio by leading supplier risk management, shortage recovery, escalation management, and cross-functional execution. This role serves as the primary point of contact between suppliers, Purchasing, SQE, Logistics, Engineering, Manufacturing Plants, and Supply Planning to proactively identify risks and drive sustainable solutions that protect production.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end supplier delivery performance for assigned commodities
- Lead shortage management activities and develop recovery plans to prevent production disruptions
- Monitor supplier capacity, inventory, logistics performance, and overall health of supply
- Conduct risk assessments and escalate critical issues through the appropriate governance channels
- Coordinate cross-functional recovery actions with Purchasing, SQE, Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Plant Operations
- Track and communicate supplier recovery plans, milestones, and execution status.
- Support launch programs, engineering changes, and capacity expansion initiatives
- Analyze supplier performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities
- Facilitate executive-level reporting and provide concise risk summaries to leadership
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on resiliency, inventory optimization, and supplier performance
- Support supplier audits, business reviews, and crisis management activities
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
- Min 8 years of experience in supply chain, supplier management, purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, or operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing escalations
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and data analysis tools
