Position Summary
Supervise the installation of industrial automation systems at customer facilities, coordinating engineers, Project Managers, contractors, vendors, and customer personnel. Ensure safe execution, project progress, technical support, and effective communication onsite.
Candidates must have hands-on experience with conveyors, automated assembly systems, tooling, robotics, PLC controls, and material handling equipment.
This experience is REQUIRED for the position and should include installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, field service, or technical support in industrial automation environments.
Advanced English + Valid TN Visa and Passport + Relevant Field Service / Industrial Automation Experience + 70% Travel Availability are REQUIRED.
Position Summary
Supervise and support the installation, commissioning, and field service activities of industrial automation systems at customer facilities. Coordinate engineers, Project Managers, contractors, vendors, and customer personnel to ensure safe execution, project progress, technical support, and effective onsite communication.
This position requires hands-on experience working in Field Service environments for automation integrators, machine builders, or industrial equipment suppliers, with exposure to PLC-controlled equipment, conveyor systems, material handling, controls, and automated manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate onsite installation, startup, commissioning, and field service activities for industrial automation projects.
- Supervise contractors, mechanical installers, electricians, controls engineers, and other technical personnel onsite.
- Enforce company and customer safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
- Monitor project schedules, installation progress, open issues, delays, punch lists, and contractor performance.
- Conduct daily project coordination and safety meetings.
- Prepare required site reports, progress reports, issue lists, and project documentation.
- Provide hands-on technical support during equipment installation, startup, commissioning, tooling buy-off, and production runoffs.
- Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled machinery, conveyor systems, sensors, motors, electrical devices, controls, and mechanical equipment.
- Assist Controls Engineers with PLC and I/O troubleshooting during equipment startup and commissioning.
- Coordinate effectively with Project Management, Engineering, Controls, vendors, contractors, and customer teams.
- Identify installation or equipment issues and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate technical teams.
- Support customer-site acceptance activities and equipment handover.
- Maintain professional communication and strong customer relationships throughout project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
- Advanced English proficiency – REQUIRED.
- Valid TN Visa and Passport – REQUIRED.
- Minimum 2 years of Field Service experience in industrial automation, controls, equipment installation, commissioning, or related technical roles.
- Experience working for or supporting automation integrators, system integrators, machine builders, OEMs, or industrial automation service companies.
- Hands-on experience supporting industrial equipment at customer manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with PLC-controlled automation systems, including troubleshooting of PLC I/O, sensors, actuators, motors, safety devices, and related controls equipment.
- Experience with conveyor and material handling systems, including installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, or field support.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, layouts, and equipment documentation.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience coordinating installation contractors, electricians, mechanical installers, controls personnel, or other technical teams onsite.
- Strong organization, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in customer-facing field environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience with industrial automation integrators or machine builders.
- Automotive manufacturing, assembly, powertrain, body shop, material handling, or similar high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Experience with conveyors, automated assembly systems, tooling, robotics, PLC controls, and material handling equipment.
- Experience participating in equipment installation, debug, commissioning, runoff, SAT, or production launch activities.
- Experience supporting automotive OEM or Tier 1 customer sites.
Travel Requirements
- Availability to travel approximately 70% of the time – REQUIRED.
- Travel may include Mexico, the United States, and other international locations.
- Must be comfortable working directly at customer manufacturing facilities for extended project assignments.
- Availability for short-notice, weekend, or holiday travel when required by the project.
Essential Requirements
