A Day in Your Life at MKS:
We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing operations for Flow products at the Nogales site. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
The Manufacturing Engineer will support New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, and day-to-day production activities, working closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, Planning, Materials, and Design Engineering. This role focuses on process stability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within a high-mix manufacturing environment.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and processes for parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies (Flow products)
- Support NPI and product transfers by coordinating with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and smooth product release
- Create and maintain work instructions, process flows, and manufacturing documentation
- Estimate manufacturing costs, define time standards, and recommend tooling, fixtures, and process improvements
- Support production lines by troubleshooting issues, implementing corrective actions, and improving yield, quality, and cycle time
- Assist in process validation activities and implementation of engineering changes (ECO/TDN)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on quality, delivery, and production priorities
- Maintain production records, KPIs, and reporting systems to monitor manufacturing performance
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, problem-solving, waste reduction)
- Support equipment, tooling, and fixture readiness for production needs
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
Skills You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience and 2+ years of related experience
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of manufacturing processes (assembly, testing, inspection)
- Experience supporting NPI or production environments
- Problem-solving skills (root cause analysis, basic 8D, troubleshooting)
- Understanding of process documentation (work instructions, process flows)
- Familiarity with time studies, line balancing, and process optimization
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a manufacturing environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
Preferred Skills: (Optional)
Experience with Flow products or precision assembly environments
- Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, and SPC
- Exposure to Industry 4.0 tools or data tracking systems
- Experience supporting pilot builds or engineering builds
- Lean or continuous improvement training
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods
- Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
- Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 25 lbs
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for approximately 15% of the time
- Requires manual dexterity and coordination at various levels (below, at, and above shoulder level)
- Must be able to communicate and exchange information clearly and accurately
- Operates in a manufacturing and office environment
- Constant use of computer and office productivity tools
- Ability to observe details at close range
- Commitment to safety when working with mechanical/electrical systems, high voltage, gas, water, and heat
- Noise level is typically moderate
