We are looking for a Purchasing & Procurement Manager to lead the Purchasing and Procurement function during the start-up and development of our new plant in Mexico.
This position will be responsible for establishing and developing the Procurement strategy, ensuring the timely supply of materials and services required for the project, and building a strong network of national and international suppliers.
We are looking for a strategic, strong negotiator, and results-oriented professional with extensive experience in industrial purchasing and the ability to build processes from the ground up.
The Challenge
Build a strong Procurement function from the ground up and ensure that LSCMX has the suppliers, materials, equipment, and services required to start operations efficiently and competitively.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the Purchasing & Procurement strategy for the plant start-up.
- Establish Purchasing processes, policies, and controls from the ground up.
- Lead the procurement of materials, equipment, machinery, tools, and services required for the project.
- Manage CAPEX and OPEX purchases, ensuring competitive costs and timely deliveries.
- Identify, evaluate, select, and develop national and international suppliers.
- Negotiate prices, contracts, commercial terms, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure the timely supply of critical materials and services for the plant start-up and operations.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Finance, Logistics, Quality, and Maintenance to meet procurement requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance, costs, deliveries, and supply risks.
- Implement cost reduction, supplier development, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Prepare and present Procurement KPIs and reports to Management and Senior Leadership.
- Lead and develop the Purchasing team as the operation grows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, International Trade, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Strategic Sourcing.
- Proven experience in leadership or management positions.
- Solid experience in industrial/manufacturing purchasing.
- Experience in plant start-up, industrial expansion, or investment projects.
- Strong experience in negotiation and development of national and international suppliers.
- Knowledge of CAPEX and OPEX procurement.
- Knowledge of import and international trade processes.
- Proven SAP experience – mandatory.
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced English – mandatory for communication with corporate teams and international suppliers.
- Availability to work on-site at the plant.
