What We Are Looking For:
The Investment Analyst will support the portfolio management and investment management functions of Deetken Impact by working directly with its Portfolio and Investment Officers.
The role is primarily focused on financial analysis, portfolio monitoring, and the collection, monitoring, and reporting of both financial and impact data throughout the investment lifecycle. In addition, the Investment Analyst will support due diligence activities, maintain investment databases, prepare reports and presentations, conduct research, and build effective relationships with investees and other stakeholders.
We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated professional who can manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a remote-work environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who demonstrates strong judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to synthesize complex information.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting
− Collect and manage financial and impact data to support portfolio monitoring.
− Monitor portfolio financial performance and covenant compliance.
− Maintain accurate and up-to-date investment and portfolio databases.
− Support the preparation of quarterly portfolio reports.
2. Invoicing and Collections
− Support the preparation and processing of invoices for investees.
− Assist with payment tracking and collections.
3. Investment Analysis and Reporting
− Support financial and investment analysis for investment renewals and new investment opportunities.
− Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other investment materials.
− Conduct research and organize information to support investment decisions.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
− Participate in meetings with investees and other stakeholders.
− Support the development and maintenance of positive client and stakeholder relationships.
5. Internal Collaboration
− Collaborate closely with Ilu’s Portfolio and Investment Officers and other internal team members.
− Collaborate closely with internal teams across functions.
− Contribute to internal initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Academic Background
− Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
− At least four years of professional experience in impact investing, investment banking, finance, or a related field.
− Experience working in Latin America is required.
− Experience in Deetken’s focus sectors (climate, gender lens investing, affordable housing, agriculture, healthcare, and sustainable enterprises) is a plus.
Languages
− Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
Technical Competencies
− Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions.
− Ability to create charts and pivot tables, use conditional formatting, and import and export data.
− Ability to interpret financial statements and cash flow projections.
− Ability to analyze historical financial statements and develop robust financial projections and forecasting models.
− Basic knowledge of economics, accounting, financial analysis, corporate finance, investment valuation, financial markets, derivative instruments and markets, portfolio management, investment theory, and fixed- and variable-income securities analysis.
− Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare logically structured reports with clearly defined sections, concise conclusions, reliable sources, and precise presentation of data, results, and findings.
− Experience working with CRM platforms is required; familiarity with Salesforce is preferred.
Travel Requirements
− Willingness and ability to travel up to 12 weeks per year within Latin America and the Caribbean, as required to support investment due diligence, portfolio management, and stakeholder engagement activities.
