As LS Cable & System Mexico continues its plant start-up and stabilization phase, the Production Control area plays a critical role in ensuring material availability, production flow, schedule adherence, and operational continuity.
This position requires a combination of analytical capability, operational coordination, real-time decision-making, and strong communication with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Logistics.
The Production Control acts as the operational bridge between planning and actual shop-floor execution.
Role Purpose
To coordinate the execution of the production schedule by managing materials, work orders, WIP, and operational priorities, ensuring that the plant meets its production plan and customer delivery commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the execution of the daily and weekly production schedule, ensuring adherence to plan.
- Release, update, and close production work orders in the ERP system.
- Validate material availability and component readiness before releasing orders.
- Monitor WIP levels, control deviations, and ensure traceability throughout the process.
- Manage critical shortages, production risks, and priority items with Purchasing and Warehouse.
- Track real-time production progress on the shop floor, identifying bottlenecks and deviations.
- Coordinate schedule adjustments due to downtime, scrap, engineering changes, or urgent requests.
- Prepare and present production KPIs: schedule adherence, internal OTD, WIP status, backorders.
- Participate in shift start-up meetings and operational follow-up sessions.
- Coordinate with Logistics to ensure on-time customer deliveries.
- Document incidents, variances, and root causes related to schedule performance.
- Support continuous improvement and standardization initiatives within the planning and control processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Production, Logistics, Systems, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or production control.
- Strong knowledge of:
- ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Infor, Epicor, or similar)
- Inventory and WIP control
- BOMs, routings, and work order structures
- Production KPIs and basic data analysis
- Manufacturing processes (preferably metal-mechanical, electrical, or automotive)
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, charts, data analysis).
- Intermediate English.
- Preferred: experience in plant start-up or new production line launches.
