This request is for an additional headcount to ensure business continuity for the Customs function. This Customs Professional role will be part of the Taxes & Customs organization, supporting the North Andina & South America region from Mexico with international trade compliance. To meet this objective, the role is structured around three core areas: operational management of regional customs activities, ensuring process compliance and data integrity through auditing and reporting, and proactive risk mitigation. This framework ensures that daily import/export operations are handled efficiently while adhering to all regulatory requirements and internal standards. Given the focus on independent process management and complex problem-solving, the ideal candidate will be a Senior Professional (P3) with advanced knowledge of Latin American import/export regulations, significant experience with customs documentation and ERP systems like SAP, and a proven ability to work with limited supervision.

50% Regional Customs Operations Management

Independently manage and instruct daily import/export operations for South American countries by issuing instructions to customs agents via trade management systems.

Conduct thorough verification of complex customs and commercial documentation (e.g., invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB) to ensure full compliance with local regulations.

Serve as a primary point of contact for customs agencies and regional logistics teams, resolving difficult operational inquiries and managing requirements for customs declarations.

Coordinate with internal teams to ensure all necessary documentation and information is provided to customs brokers in a timely manner.

30% Compliance, Auditing, and Reporting

Maintain and oversee accurate, auditable records of all foreign trade operations per country, ensuring data integrity and compliance with record-keeping policies.

Support internal and external customs audits by preparing documentation, consolidating information, and explaining operational processes to auditors.

Consolidate data for regional performance reports and dashboards, analyzing operational KPIs to identify trends and support continuous improvement.

Ensure all customs activities are performed in alignment with internal control procedures (ICPs) and company policies.

20% Process Integrity and Risk Mitigation

Proactively identify, investigate, and escalate documentary inconsistencies or compliance risks to the Regional Customs Manager for resolution.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of customs processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on operational feedback and regulatory changes.

Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals or support staff on standard operational tasks to ensure quality and consistency.

Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)

Bachelor's degree in Foreign Trade, International Business, Logistics, or a related field.

Typically requires 5+ years of experience in international trade compliance or customs operations, aligned with a Senior Professional (P3) level.

Demonstrated experience working with customs agencies and documentation requirements in Latin American countries (excluding Brazil) is highly desirable.
