Buyer description position
Raw Material Buyer – Steel & Steel blanks is responsible for managing over $280,000 Mi usd spend annually in NA. The purchasing responsibilities include sourcing on time and to target, development and implementation of global commodity strategies, supplier negotiations, driving annual cost savings activities, supplier relationship management, and leading the resolution of commercial issues. The selected candidate will interact with many cross-functional teams including Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Vehicle Platform teams and Program Management. This commodity group is highly strategic with a global supply base.
Requirements:
Experience and Skills
- 2-5 years of experience in:
- Strategic sourcing / procurement
- Proven experience with:
- High annual spend management (large budgets, ideally hundreds of millions or more)
- Supplier negotiations at a global level
- Commodity strategy development and execution
- Experience in automotive or manufacturing industry is highly preferred
- Advanced negotiation skills (pricing, contracts, terms & conditions)
- Cost analysis and cost breakdown (should-costing)
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
- Strategic thinking and long-term planning
- Commercial issue resolution
- Experience with:
- Advanced Excel / data analysis
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to work with multiple departments (Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Materials), or
- Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related fields
Languages
- Advanced English (required in a global environment)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree (MBA or similar)
- Previous automotive related and/or global commodity experience specific to metals or stampings
- Automotive purchasing experience
- Experience working with SAP
