Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer - On-Site in Querétaro
Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Senior AI Engineer / Technical Lead with 3–5+ years of practical experience building AI-powered applications. This person will work directly on projects while providing technical guidance to a small team of AI Engineers. The ideal candidate has strong applied experience with LLMs, RAG, APIs, databases, evaluation, deployment, and software engineering practices, and can help the team turn prototypes into reliable business solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy AI-powered applications using LLMs, RAG, APIs, databases, and cloud or local deployment environments.
- Help convert AI prototypes into reliable business applications with proper logging, error handling, evaluation, monitoring, and maintainability.
- Establish reusable engineering patterns, development standards, and best practices for AI application development.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to AI Engineers through code reviews, architecture discussions, debugging, prototyping, and production-readiness reviews.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate technical options, and deliver practical AI solutions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong Python development experience for AI, automation, APIs, data processing, and integration workflows.
- Strong practical experience with third-party GenAI services, SDKs, LLMs, and multimodal AI capabilities. Desired knowledge in model distillation and/or compression techniques.
- Experience building agentic workflows, tool-calling systems, or multi-step LLM applications. Familiarity with MCP or similar integration protocols is desirable.
- Designed, built, and maintained scalable RESTful and/or async APIs (e.g. FastAPI, Django, Flask) and integration layers for AI-powered, enterprise-grade applications.
- Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform or deployment environment for AI applications (e.g. AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP Vertex AI).
- Experience working with local and cloud-based data solutions. SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, ChromaDB, Faiss); production-grade integration in AI workflows including RAG architectures and embedding pipelines.
- Experience with document processing, OCR, PDF parsing, structured extraction, or enterprise knowledge retrieval is desirable.
- Experience with Git/GitHub for team-based development, code review workflows, and engineering best practices enforcement.
- Pipeline design and implementation; automated testing frameworks (e.g. Pytest), benchmarking, and evaluation pipelines for AI systems.
- Evaluation frameworks covering (but not limited to) observability, hallucination detection, response quality scoring, correctness evaluation, and LLM-as-a-judge.
- Advanced degree in AI/ML, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field is a plus, but practical project delivery experience is more important than formal academic credentials.
