Job Summary
We are looking for an EHS Engineer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of Environment, Health and Safety programs in our electronics manufacturing plant. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Mexican EHS regulations, STPS standards, environmental requirements, civil protection programs, customer audit requirements, and internal company policies.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on EHS experience in manufacturing, preferably in electronics, automotive electronics, or electromechanical assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain EHS programs in compliance with applicable Mexican regulations, including STPS NOMs, environmental requirements, and Civil Protection standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections in production, warehouse, maintenance, utilities, and office areas.
- Identify and control risks related to SMT, DIP, soldering, testing, assembly, chemical handling, machine operation, electrical work, maintenance activities, and material handling.
- Support the development and implementation of safe work procedures, PPE requirements, LOTO, hot work, electrical safety, contractor safety, and emergency response procedures.
- Manage chemical safety, including SDS files, GHS labels, chemical inventory, storage controls, spill response, and employee training.
- Support environmental management activities, including hazardous waste, electronic scrap, solder dross, contaminated materials, recycling, and waste vendor documentation.
- Coordinate emergency response activities, evacuation drills, fire extinguisher inspections, emergency brigades, first-aid resources, and Civil Protection documentation.
- Lead or support incident investigations, near-miss reporting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Provide EHS induction and regular safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Support ISO 14001, ISO 45001, customer audits, internal audits, and government inspections when required.
- Track EHS KPIs, prepare reports, and promote a proactive safety culture across the plant.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA, SMT, DIP, automotive electronics, or electromechanical assembly is preferred.
- Knowledge of Mexican EHS regulations, especially STPS NOMs, environmental compliance, and Civil Protection requirements.
- Experience with risk assessments, EHS inspections, incident investigation, safety training, emergency response, contractor safety, and hazardous waste management.
- Familiarity with chemical safety, SDS, GHS labeling, PPE selection, and waste segregation.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 is preferred.
- Strong communication, follow-up, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Spanish is required; English communication skills are preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
