The Commodity Manager, Packaging, is responsible for developing and executing packaging sourcing strategies across the Americas. The role manages regional supplier relationships and delivers competitive cost, supply assurance, working-capital improvement, supplier performance, and sourcing support for new and existing business.
Working across Commodity Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams, this position will develop packaging solutions that balance product protection, cost, logistics efficiency, sustainability, and customer requirements
What a typical day looks like:
- Develop and implement Americas sourcing strategies aligned with global packaging commodity direction.
- Identify, qualify, develop, and manage suppliers across Mexico and the broader Americas region.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, productivity, rebates, payment terms, tooling, inventory, capacity, and contractual conditions.
- Drive cost reduction through competitive sourcing, cost analysis, specification optimization, standardization, localization, and supplier consolidation.
- Support customer quotations, new-product introductions, supplier selections, and manufacturing ramps.
- Partner with Engineering and Operations on packaging design, material selection, value engineering, and operational improvement.
- Monitor market conditions, material cost drivers, supplier capacity, and supply risks, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
- Lead resolution of significant commercial, quality, capacity, and supply issues.
- Improve supplier performance and maintain a competitive, capable, and resilient regional supply base.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- BA/BS or equivalent work experience
- R elevant experience in packaging sourcing, commodity management, packaging engineering, manufacturing, or supplier management
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials and processes, including corrugated, protective packaging, foam, molded materials, labels, pallets, crates, or returnable packaging.
- Understanding of packaging cost drivers, conversion processes, tooling, freight, lead times, and total landed cost.
- Proven supplier negotiation, cost-reduction, sourcing, and risk-management experience.
- Strong commercial judgment, analytical capability, cross-functional influence, and execution discipline.
- Professional fluency in English and Spanish.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or another complex manufacturing environment is preferred.
