The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
Whirlpool is looking for a Product Development Engineer for our Laundry Structures and Package team. The engineer will be responsible for global Laundry Mechanical Structures and Package subsystem deliverables, including development, execution, verification and validation, working with global cross functional teams during various phases of projects and across various technologies such as structural mechanics, sheet metal design, EPS design, rubber, glass, etc.
Drive New Product Development / Cost & Quality projects for the Laundry business with a focus on structural components (Cabinet components) and Develop and package components
Responsibility for the technical specification for all Cabinet and Package components
Support global projects and be responsible to lead implementation projects.
Lead projects doing a Interaction with many different areas of the company
Handle multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to implementation using the project management tools by closely working with design, product approval, manufacturing, assembling and interface teams.
Concept development, design creation, concept evaluation & selection, verification & validation and implementation into production.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering or related field
1-3+ years of experience in product development in related field
Proficiency in English language (Read, write and speak)
Sound structural knowledge and hands on experience in problem solving
Hands on experience in any CAD tools (Creo is preferred)
Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects parallely
Team player
Result oriented
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. This includes the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Whirlpool’s organization
Masters degree with related experience would be a plus.
Opex/Six Sigma experience.
Strong sense of accountability and personal commitment.
Soft skill: Communication thoughts the global organization / Summary report project
Knowledge of Risk Management and Project Management
