Amazon is seeking a Buildings Services Manager to join the Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) team in Mexico. The Buildings Services Manager will have a high work capacity while being detail-oriented and agile to manage business changes and drive initiatives.
The RME team maintains and optimizes technologies ranging from large, modern, purpose-built warehouses utilizing conveyance all the way through the value chain to small, high-speed warehouses placed as close to our customers as possible. We maintain and optimize technologies in the Global Amazon Fulfillment, Sort Centre, and Delivery Network.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive electrical infrastructure reliability across the Mexico network — leading root cause analysis of electrical incidents, governing preventive maintenance programs for power distribution systems, and partnering with utility companies and vendors to improve power quality and reduce downtime.
- Manage electrical energy indicators — monitoring consumption, contracted vs. actual demand, power factor, power quality (harmonics, voltage variations, transients), and costs per site — identifying deviations, proposing corrective actions, and directing energy efficiency initiatives across the network.
- Support RME site-based colleagues in overseeing the delivery of hard facilities services (building assets and infrastructure, e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage) at all operational sites across the Mexico network.
- Manage building plumbing systems — including cold and hot water, sewage, stormwater, booster pumps, and water tanks — ensuring adequate preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and operational availability.
- Track costs and ensure strict compliance in collaboration with regional managers and finance teams.
- Dive deep into service and asset performance data to identify opportunities for improvement. Drive major initiatives on the ground to deliver results.
- Track and resolve recurring issues in collaboration with different internal stakeholders; act as an internal escalation point and regional SME for critical infrastructure topics.
- Collaborate with Procurement to manage major vendors, ensuring continued high performance through KPI and SLA measurement, and sourcing of new vendors.
- Support the rollout of regional initiatives to improve services and costs, such as new technology deployments and sustainability initiatives.
A day in the life
The Buildings Services Manager will be responsible for building services across the Mexico network — covering all miles (Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers, Delivery Stations, Sub-Same-Day, and Last Mile facilities) — ensuring compliance, employee safety, and minimal downtime. The primary focus is on electrical infrastructure reliability: establishing standards, auditing compliance, building preventive maintenance frameworks for critical power systems (substations, generators, UPS, ATS, busways, and VFDs), and driving systemic improvement across all BUs. The role will also oversee broader building services including hard facilities (HVAC, fire suppression, BMS, plumbing, and drainage), ensuring service levels are met and continuously improved. They will handle key escalations from the teams to solve recurring failures, work with internal stakeholders to standardize roles and responsibilities, and manage different initiatives to improve building management costs while ensuring higher SLAs and internal customer satisfaction.
