Objective:
- Assist in the goalsvision, policies, objectives and thoughts of the company for the development of new products and/or changes in current products.
- Lead technical presentations with the client, with suppliers and with internal multidisciplinary teams on changes and improvements to our products that are aligned with the continuous reduction of costs and improvement of quality.
- Actively participate in the search for new technologies and patents for the development of new products and/or changes in current products.
- Work dedicatedly with cross-functional teams for a full launch of new platforms.
Main Duties:
- Investigation and coordination of engineering changes to an already approved product for internal proposed changes or to support problems in the assembly plant.
- Direct effective communication with program managers
- Effective communication and monitoring of engineering changes with application engineers (DRE, others) (SIE's) in Detroit.
- Coordination of solutions with tool designers for manufacturing and component problems.
- Quote changes and improvements to our products.
- Create test specifications
- Development of DVP & Rs.
- Development of prototype Control Plan, in addition to coordinating special prototype runs.
- Document and identify Special or Critical Characteristics with the client.
- Document new projects or changes in the VKMS system.
- Prepare internal ECN (Engineering Change Notices).
- Management of communication systems with clients: WERS, SREA, Forever Requirement, EWO, CNA, Covisint, Magenta, Teamcenter and others.
- Maintenance and changes in documents such as DFMEA & BOM's of the assigned products and programs.
- Participate in updating AS400 system part numbers and I-DOCS drawings.
- Review and changes to test specifications. (test specifications).
- Verification, creation and approval of stack up (tolerances in models).
- Responsible for product design, engineering and development of assigned programs.
- Creation, analysis and multidisciplinary leadership in review and/or revisions of the design in programs assigned with the client and with the product development team. As well as considering the product validation results.
- Perform disassembly and root cause analysis of problems, based on the results of product validation and production tests.
- Definition/coordination/authorization of 2D drawings and 3D models internally and externally (clients and suppliers)
- Monitor the status of each program and report to the Engineering Manager and Program Manager.
- Represent STRATTEC in weekly meetings with the client and with external and internal suppliers.
- Implement, use and monitor the Product Development Process (PDP) in all its required phases.
- Maintenance of products launched into production (sustaining), to ensure continuous quality and/or improvement
- Support in the CPAP and PPAP release process.
- Development of DFM, DFA, for quotes with clients (RFQ)
- Generate/implement/lead cost reduction ideas for assigned product, process and manufacturing
- Regular travel to clients, suppliers and other Strattec facilities is required (~30%).
- Development and support in activities that involve quotes for current products and new products (FRQ)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Engineering in Mechanics, Electromechanics, Mechatronics or related.
- English language. High domain for professional interaction.
- 5 years experience in Product engineering area (mechanical)
- Visa laser
- Availability to travel (30-50%)
Knowledge:
- Engineering changes
- DVP & Rs
- VKMS system
- DFMEA , DFM , DFA y RFQ
- Covisint, Magenta, y otros, Teamcenter
- Any Patent is a plus
- Technical experience in development/creation of Stack up, tolerance studies (CPK/CP) & GD&T (ASME-Y14.5M)
- DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), Six sigma / Problem Solving
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- CAD platforms (Parametric (Windchill), NX (Teamcenter), CATIA and Solidworks
- AS400 / BOM
