We are seeking a highly technical and customer-focused Technical Sales Manager to drive new business and manage key accounts in Silicon Valley. The role requires deep manufacturing expertise in precision processes to support technology, hardware, automotive, medical device, and cleantech companies in the Bay Area.
The candidate will be based in Tijuana but must be willing and able to travel frequently (typically 1–2 weeks per month or more) to Silicon Valley for customer meetings, design reviews, and relationship building.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Prospect, qualify, and close new accounts with Silicon Valley OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
- Develop and execute territory sales strategies focused on high-mix, medium-to-high volume production programs.
- Achieve or exceed annual revenue and margin targets.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, and cost analyses.
Technical Support & Account Management
- Provide expert guidance on material selection, process capabilities, tolerances, and design optimization for:
- Injection Molding (thermoplastics, engineering resins, insert/over-molding)
- Metal Stamping (progressive die, high-speed, fine blanking)
- Die Casting (aluminum, zinc, magnesium)
- CNC Machining (milling, turning, multi-axis, prototyping to production)
- Conduct on-site and virtual technical consultations, including design reviews and failure mode analysis.
- Manage the full customer lifecycle: RFQ → DFM → tooling → sampling → production ramp → sustained business.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, tooling, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and on-time delivery.
Market Intelligence & Relationship Building
- Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, procurement, and executive stakeholders at target companies (e.g., consumer electronics, autonomous vehicles, medical devices, data center hardware).
- Stay current with Silicon Valley technology trends and translate them into manufacturing opportunities.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks for customers.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Technical Expertise (Critical)
- Strong working knowledge of injection molding, metal stamping, die casting, and CNC machining processes, including tooling design, process limitations, secondary operations, and quality standards (GD&T, PPAP, FAI, ISO 9001, IATF 16949 preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
- Experience with DFM/DFA principles and cost reduction initiatives.
Professional Experience
- 5+ years of technical sales or application engineering experience in precision manufacturing / contract manufacturing.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in the Bay Area technology market.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field (highly preferred).
