We are seeking an accomplished Lead ETL Engineer with deep expertise in Python and its associated frameworks, along with extensive experience with AWS, to join our Data & Analytics organization.
The Lead Engineer is responsible for owning the end-to-end delivery of business needs, from shaping requirements and defining technical strategy to deploying software into production and guiding a team of engineers along the way. This role requires mastery of critical technologies, proficiency across a broad technical landscape, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for mentoring others while continuously adding value to the business.
The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and evolution of ETL processes for Health Services FHIR, partnering with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure that data integration and transformation processes are efficient, reliable, scalable, and aligned with the broader technical vision.
Responsibilities

Lead direct business interactions and gather requirements

Establish and enforce coding standards, ensuring the team produces referenceable and modular code

Define architecture and design solutions at both project and program levels

Demonstrate mastery in several key areas and proficiency across many others, serving as a technical authority for the team

Take ownership and accountability for team-wide delivery and outcomes

Guide the team on when to automate and when not to

Drive simplification across processes, solutions, and organizational practices

Apply an entrepreneurial and business-minded approach to complex engineering challenges

Requirements

5+ years of data engineering experience using Python
-
1+ years of experience leading distributed or cross-functional engineering teams
-
Proven experience leading engineers within Agile teams – Scrum or Kanban
-
Deep experience with databases – SQL and NoSQL
-
Expert-level knowledge of AWS, including AWS Lambda
-
Strong command of Git and modern version control workflows
-
Advanced proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
-
Solid background in TDD development methodologies and driving their adoption across teams

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
-
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
-
Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)
Nice to have

Knowledge of FHIR Medical Resource Specifications
