Overview: Estimator l
Estimator l will support the Estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive quotes for standard and custom furniture projects. This entry-level role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, comfortable with numbers, and interested in learning how furniture is designed, manufactured, and priced.
The position will review drawings and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, identify materials and manufacturing requirements, obtain vendor pricing, and assist with cost estimates under the guidance of experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to understand scope and requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and identify materials, hardware, finishes, and manufacturing requirements.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and customer quotes.
- Request and organize vendor pricing for materials, components, and outsourced processes.
- Identify missing or conflicting information and coordinate with internal teams for clarification.
- Maintain accurate estimating documentation, assumptions, calculations, and pricing information.
- Support quote revisions resulting from scope or design changes.
- Collaborate with Sales, Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Operations.
- Develop knowledge of furniture construction, materials, manufacturing processes, and product costing.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree completed or in progress in Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Recent graduates and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Previous estimating experience is not required.
- Exposure to manufacturing, furniture, construction, CAD, or cost analysis is a plus.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office.
- Ability or willingness to learn how to read architectural and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar software is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proactive, curious, and eager to learn.
- Advanced English proficiency for business communication.
Working Environment
- Hybrid work environment depending on business needs.
- Frequent collaboration with Estimating, Sales, Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations.
- Training and guidance will be provided as the Junior Estimator develops toward independently managing complete estimates.
