This role is a senior consulting geologist and project leader responsible for delivering high-quality exploration programs while actively contributing to business development, proposal success, and client growth. The position requires a balance of technical excellence, commercial acumen, and leadership, with accountability for securing and executing complex, multidisciplinary projects across Africa.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead end-to-end delivery of complex exploration programs (planning execution reporting)
Manage budgets, schedules, technical inputs, and client expectations
Ensure compliance with international reporting standards (JORC, NI 43-101, S-K 1300)
Integrate geology, geophysics, and data into defensible interpretations and outputs
2. Business Development & Proposal Success
Lead and contribute to proposal writing, scoping, and pricing strategies
Support pipeline development through client engagement and technical positioning
Convert opportunities into awarded work
3. Technical Authority & Advisory
Act as senior technical reviewer and sign-off authority (QP/CP)
Provide high-level advisory to clients on exploration strategy and risk
Ensure technical outputs meet best practice and regulatory standards
4. Data, Modelling & Interpretation Excellence
Oversee geological data integrity, management, and QA/QC
Expert geological modelling (Leapfrog, etc.)
Lead integration of geophysics, GIS, and modelling tools (Leapfrog, QGIS)
Ensure outputs support Mineral Resource estimation and decision-making
5. Technical Mentorship
Undertake technical mentorship of the team
Requirements:
Master’s Level in one of:
Economic Geology,
Applied/Exploration Geology,
Geophysics,
Mining Engineering,
Mineral Resource Estimation
Additional consideration for:
Geospatial/Data Science disciplines (GIS, AI/ML in geoscience)
MBA or equivalent business/strategy qualification (asset)
PhD
Advanced degree preferred; however, equivalent experience in leading complex exploration programs, securing work, and delivering code-compliant technical outputs will be considered
Professional designation with QP/CP sign-off
Multi-commodity and multi-deposit experience
Structural Geology
Proven understanding of geostatistics/Mineral Resource estimation and declarations
Proven experience across multiple exploration techniques
Strong experience with JORC, NI 43-101, S-K 1300
Demonstrated success in:
Proposal writing and winning work
Leading complex, multidisciplinary projects
Advanced skills in Leapfrog, QGIS, and data management
Strong technical writing and communication skills
